This policy explains what Lot and Gate collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It describes what the site actually does today rather than every practice it might one day adopt.
What we do not collect
There is no account to create, no newsletter signup and no contact form on this site. We do not ask for your name, your email or your travel dates, and there is nowhere on the site to give them to us. If you write to us by email, we hold that message and your address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of a correction.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides get read and which searches bring people here. It records the pages you view, roughly where you are (country and region, from your IP address, which is truncated before storage), your device and browser, and how you arrived. It is configured with IP anonymization enabled.
This data is processed by Google as a service provider and is used only in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine analytics data with anything else. Google’s own handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Cookies
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, to tell a returning visit from a new one.
- Affiliate cookies set by a provider’s own site if you follow an affiliate link, so that the provider can attribute a booking. These are set by that provider, not by us, and are governed by their privacy policy.
- Security and performance cookies set by Cloudflare, which sits in front of this site to filter malicious traffic.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site stops working if you do; there is no logged-in state to lose.
Affiliate links
Some links to hotels and car rental providers are affiliate links. Following one takes you to that provider, who then applies their own privacy policy and their own cookies. We receive aggregate reporting on whether bookings happened; we do not receive your name, your booking details or your payment information. The commercial terms are set out in the affiliate disclosure.
Hosting and server logs
The site runs on WordPress on managed hosting, behind Cloudflare. Both keep standard server logs including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention, and both retain them on their own schedules. These logs are not used for analytics or marketing.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. In practice we hold almost nothing: unless you have emailed us, there is no record here tied to you personally. To ask about or delete an email exchange, write to [email protected].
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Children
This site is written for adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we add something that changes what is collected, such as advertising, this page is updated before that change goes live, and the date below changes with it. Last updated: August 2026.
