Affiliate disclosure

Read this first, and it is the part most disclosure pages leave out: as of 11 September 2026 there is not one affiliate link anywhere on this site. Lot and Gate intends to join affiliate programs for accommodation and car rental, and this page sets out the rules those links will follow before any of them ships. Everything below is written as a commitment, not as a description of something already running.

What an affiliate link will be here

Some links to hotels and car rental providers will be affiliate links. If you follow one and make a booking, the provider may pay Lot and Gate a commission. You pay the same price you would pay going to that provider directly; the commission comes out of the provider’s margin, not out of your booking.

Affiliate links will be marked in the page’s HTML with the sponsored attribute, which is the signal search engines use to distinguish paid links from editorial ones, and the block that contains them will carry a visible disclosure line. Until the first one ships, the line at the foot of each article says so in as many words.

What a commission will not buy

  • It does not decide a comparison. Winners are chosen by the declared criterion and the figures the issuing authorities publish. If the cheapest option pays us nothing, it still wins.
  • It does not buy coverage. No provider can pay to appear on this site, to be added to a table, or to be described more favorably. That is true today, with no programs live, and it stays true afterwards.
  • It does not buy a review. We do not review providers, so there is no rating to influence.
  • It does not change a figure. Rates come from the issuer, and the issuer is named next to the number.

Where the affiliate blocks will appear

Affiliate blocks will be placed after the first section of an article, never above it. The first thing on a page is the answer you came for, not a booking button. That is a deliberate rule, not a temporary arrangement, and it is the reason no article on this site opens with one.

Programs and sponsors

No affiliate program is live on this site today, and no local business sponsors it. When a sponsorship starts, that placement will be labeled as a sponsorship and kept separate from editorial content; the terms are on the advertise page. The method behind every figure is set out in the editorial policy.

How to check this page rather than trust it

Open any article, view the page source and search it for sponsored. Today you will find nothing, which is what this page says you should find. When that changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves.

Questions

If anything on this site reads like it was written to earn a commission rather than to answer a question, tell us through the contact page. That is a bug, and we will fix it.
