DJT (Formerly PBI) to Miami: Brightline vs Uber, Priced for Two

Uber is faster from DJT to Miami, and Brightline is cheaper only with carry-on bags

President Donald J. Trump International Airport, formerly Palm Beach International (PBI), sits 71 miles from Miami on Uber’s average, an 85-minute ride averaging $113 for UberX. Brightline quoted most seats from West Palm Beach to MiamiCentral at $39.00 for Monday 19 October 2026 and every seat at $15.00 that Saturday, and the train saves money only without a suitcase.

How to get from Palm Beach Airport to Miami: Lot and Gate route map

The trip from DJT to Miami is either one 71-mile car ride or a 9-minute car ride into West Palm Beach followed by a Brightline train of 75 to 82 minutes. Every total below prices two adults travelling one way to downtown Miami, using Uber’s route pages and Brightline’s booking search, each read twice on 16 September 2026.

The airport prices none of it. DJT’s public transportation page names Tri-Rail without a fare, its taxi page gives a reservation number without a fare, and neither page mentions Brightline. The comparison is assembled from the two companies that publish numbers, and the gaps stay visible as gaps.

What DJT publishes about Miami is one Tri-Rail sentence and a curb on Level 3

The airport’s public transportation page gives Miami a single sentence: Tri-Rail provides rail service between West Palm Beach and Miami, with stops at many locations in between, and DJT is accessible by Tri-Rail from the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station, located at 203 South Tamarind Avenue. A phone number follows, 1-800-874-7245, and nothing else: no fare, no frequency and no Miami station. Two readings on 16 September 2026 returned the same text.

The taxi page is just as spare. Taxi, sedan, SUV and van service is available on demand at the Ground Transportation desk outside the west end of Level 1, a reservation line answers at 561-777-7777, and no fare to any destination appears. Rideshare pickups sit on the outer curb of Level 3. The rest of what DJT prints about leaving, from four parking maxima to a 2012 permit list, is laid out in the six phone numbers DJT prints for leaving the terminal.

So the numbers for this trip belong to two companies. Uber publishes averages for the car. Brightline quotes fares for the train from its West Palm Beach platform at 260 Quadrille Plaza Drive, and the road leg to that platform is measured in the unscheduled ride from DJT to Brightline West Palm Beach. Uber’s route page from PBI into West Palm Beach averages 9 minutes, 4 miles and $18 across its options, with UberX at $16.

Uber’s averages from PBI to five Miami-Dade endpoints disagree by $37

Uber still files the airport under PBI, and its 14 route sitemaps, downloaded on 16 September 2026, hold 52 route pages that start there. Five end in Miami-Dade County. Each page labels its option prices as averages for the past month that do not represent fixed prices, and every figure in the table matched across two readings.

Port of Miami1.5 hours, or 90 minutes$100UberX $84, Priority $90, Comfort $105, UberXL $138, UberXXL $15572 miles

Two patterns decide how far a budget can lean on these numbers. UberX runs from $84 to the Port of Miami to $121 to Miami Beach, a $37 spread over endpoints 63 to 73 miles away, and the Art Deco Historic District, which Uber places in Miami Beach, averages $28 less for UberX than Miami Beach as a whole. On the Miami and Miami Beach pages Comfort also averages below UberX, $105 against $113 and $115 against $121, while Uber’s West Palm Beach page prices Comfort at $22 and UberX at $16.

The Miami page carries one more flag. A summary paragraph stamped Updated December, 2024 repeats the same $113 and 71 miles that the block labelled the past month shows, and nothing on the page says whether the monthly figures refresh. The seaport line reappears in the Uber average that prices DJT to the PortMiami terminals, and this guide treats $105 to $113 as a band for the car, never as a fare.

Brightline’s West Palm Beach to MiamiCentral fares on a Monday and a Saturday in October

Brightline’s booking search, run for one adult and read twice on 16 September 2026, priced every southbound train from West Palm Beach to Miami on two dates. Monday 19 October listed 18 departures from 5:50 AM to 11:09 PM, taking 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 22 minutes. Seventeen priced SMART at $39.00 per Guest plus $0.48 in fees and PREMIUM at $69.00, and train 5159 at 7:35 PM priced them at $23.00 and $53.00.

Saturday 24 October listed 17 departures across the same span, each at $15.00 for SMART and $53.00 for PREMIUM, with the same $0.48 added. The search’s date strip showed Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October at $15.00, Monday 26 at $23.00 and Tuesday 27 at $39.00.

Only two fare types appeared when the 9:34 AM train was expanded: SMART SELECT, with two carry-on bags and one personal item, and PREMIUM SELECT, which adds one standard tagged bag. No SMART SAVER or FLEX fare appeared on that train. A Brightline release dated 9 September 2026 introduced FLEX for guests traveling to or from Orlando, which accounts for its absence on a South Florida pair.

The Saturday price is a published offer rather than a search quirk. Brightline’s SoFlo Weekends page sells an Adult SMART SELECT fare within South Florida for $15 one-way, bought at least 2 hours ahead, by October 31 for travel through November 1, 2026, and its terms name Friday, Saturday and Sunday trains. What a reader sees depends on the screen: the site’s stylesheet hides that block below 768 pixels wide and shows a second one that says Saturdays and Sundays. The booking search sided with the terms and quoted Friday 23 October at $15.00.

Two adults from DJT to downtown Miami, priced with and without a suitcase

The premises are two adults, one way, a landing at DJT and an arrival in downtown Miami, where Brightline’s MiamiCentral stands at 600 NW 1st Avenue. The car figure is Uber’s Miami, FL page. The rail figure adds UberX’s $16 average into West Palm Beach, one car for both riders, to two Brightline seats with $0.48 in fees each. Uber’s figures are averages, and Brightline’s fares were quoted on one day for two travel dates.

UberX to West Palm Beach, two SMART SELECT seats and two bags bought separately$94.96 plus two bag fees$46.96 plus two bag fees114 to 121 minutesn/a, Brightline’s pages read print no suitcase fee

Two adults with carry-on bags on a weekend go by Brightline, and win on price: $46.96 against the $105 to $113 band. The nuance is time. Brightline’s terms close boarding at the turnstiles 5 minutes before departure, so even the tightest connection takes 89 to 96 minutes against Uber’s 85, before any wait for the next train.

On a Monday the same pair still wins by train, narrowly: $94.96 sits $10.04 to $18.04 under the band, barely more than the $8 separating Uber’s own two cheapest averages. The nuance is the timetable. A pair reaching the platform at 9:35 AM boards the 11:34 AM and reaches Miami at 12:56 PM, while an UberX leaving DJT at 9:26 AM arrives around 10:51 AM on the 85-minute average.

Two adults with an airline suitcase each go by Uber on either day, and win on published price. PREMIUM SELECT, the only fare quoted with a tagged bag inside it, lifts the rail plan to $154.96 on Monday and $122.96 on Saturday. The nuance is the bag fee Brightline leaves unprinted: SMART SELECT plus a bag bought separately beats UberX’s $113 only if each bag costs less than $9.02 on the Monday or less than $33.02 on the Saturday.

A solo traveler goes by train on either day, on price: $55.48 on Monday and $31.48 on Saturday, against a car that costs one rider the same $105 to $113. Four adults split by the calendar. Four SMART seats plus the ride into West Palm Beach come to $173.92 on the Monday, above an UberX or Comfort that Uber lists for 4 riders, and to $77.92 on the Saturday, which the train wins. Onward connections from the platform are traced in the free Metromover and trolley chain beyond MiamiCentral.

Tri-Rail and the taxi desk, the two ways south that carry no number

Tri-Rail appears on three issuers’ pages for this trip, and none prices it in a form this guide can check. DJT places the station at 203 South Tamarind Avenue with no fare. Brightline’s MiamiCentral page says its station is conveniently located by metro stations including Tri-Rail, and names no platform. Uber’s Miami route page goes furthest: its December 2024 paragraph says Tri-Rail offers a direct train from Palm Beach International Airport to Miami, and gives that train a trip time and a price.

That sentence fails against the airport’s own wording. DJT says the train is reached from the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station, not from the terminal, and Uber’s sitemaps carry a separate route page from West Palm Beach Tri-Rail Station to PBI averaging 4 miles, 9 minutes and $12. The railroad’s own website is not a source here, so the time and price in Uber’s sentence stay unconfirmed and out of every total above.

The taxi is simpler and emptier. DJT’s desk on the west end of Level 1 takes walk-ups without reservations, 561-777-7777 books ahead, and for a 71-mile ride the airport prints no meter rate, no flat rate and no estimate. Of every rider in this guide, only the taxi passenger learns the price at the curb.

Aventura, fare types and station codes that change a DJT to Miami train trip

  • Brightline Aventura, at 19796 West Dixie Highway, is 51 to 58 minutes from West Palm Beach, against 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 22 minutes to MiamiCentral, on Monday 19 October 2026. Brightline’s baggage policy says Aventura does not accommodate checked baggage, so a suitcase bound there rides as a paid carry-on.
  • Bag deadlines differ by station in Brightline’s terms of service: paid carry-on items are tagged 20 minutes before departure at West Palm Beach and Aventura and 30 minutes at Miami and Orlando, checked bags close 30 minutes before departure, and no checked bag is accepted more than 4 hours early.
  • Boarding opens about 10 minutes before departure and closes at the turnstiles 5 minutes before, under the same terms, while Brightline’s passes page recommends arriving at least 20 minutes ahead.
  • FLEX, the fare that bundles a one-way airport shuttle to MIA or FLL, is an Orlando product. A rider continuing from MiamiCentral to Miami International pays the connector at $12 per guest plus a $3 fuel surcharge, to the doors listed in the MIA guide to every mode at the terminal.
  • Brightline’s booking address encodes West Palm Beach as WPT and MiamiCentral as EKW, and its travel trade page files WPT under the IATA city code PBI, the letters airlines stopped using for the airport on 18 August 2026. Aventura, coded AVT, sits under MIA with MiamiCentral.
  • A fixed per-ride price exists only for frequent riders: Brightline sells 10 SMART rides between Miami and Boca Raton or West Palm Beach for $299, or $29.90 a ride, for a single Guest within 30 days.
  • UberX is not the lowest average into West Palm Beach. Uber’s same route page lists an electric option averaging $11 against $16 for UberX, $5 below the figure used in every rail total above.

Five ways a DJT to Miami budget comes out wrong

Copying the train line from Uber’s route page is the first. It calls Tri-Rail a direct train from the airport, while DJT says the train is reached from a station on South Tamarind Avenue, and no source read here confirms the price Uber quotes.

Pricing downtown from the seaport is the second. Uber averages UberX at $84 from PBI to the Port of Miami and at $113 from PBI to Miami, FL. Both endpoints carry a Miami address, and the $29 between them is a gap between two sets of averages, not a quote for either trip.

Booking SMART SELECT with an airline suitcase is the third. That fare includes two carry-on bags no larger than 24 by 16 by 10 inches, and Brightline’s West Palm Beach rules require any larger bag to be checked and added to the booking in advance, for a fee the pages read do not print.

Trusting the $15 on the wrong day is the fourth. The fare covers Friday to Sunday trains through November 1, 2026, the Monday search quoted $39.00, and a phone-width reading of the offer page leaves Friday out.

Reaching West Palm Beach just after a departure is the fifth. On both dates read, the 9:34 AM is followed by a two-hour gap, which turns an $18.04 weekday saving against UberX into an arrival 2 hours 5 minutes later than the car.

The readings behind every DJT to Miami figure, dated

The figures in this guide were verified in September 2026 against the sources named in each section. Parking rates usually change in January, shuttle fares and cruise line transfer prices change by season, and ship schedules change weekly; check the issuer’s page before you travel. No provider paid for placement here, and none can pay to appear. Where a booking link earns Lot and Gate a commission it is marked as sponsored and flagged in this line, and as of September 2026 no affiliate link is live anywhere on this site.

Uber figures come from its route pages from PBI to Miami, Miami Beach, the Art Deco Historic District, Opa Locka, the Port of Miami and West Palm Beach, each read twice on 16 September 2026 with identical text, and from its West Palm Beach Tri-Rail Station to PBI page, read once, all located through Uber’s 14 route sitemaps. Brightline fares come from its booking search for Monday 19 and Saturday 24 October 2026, each read twice on 16 September, and its times from the same searches and from its schedule search, with Aventura read twice. Brightline rules come from its SoFlo Weekends offer and site stylesheet, train tickets, baggage, terms of service, passes, MiamiCentral, Aventura and travel trade pages, and its 9 September 2026 FLEX release. Airport statements come from the flydjt.org public transportation page, read twice, and taxis page. The commuter railroad’s own website is not a source here.

Questions about getting from DJT to Miami by train or by car

The six answers below use the readings of 16 September 2026 described above, for travel on Monday 19 and Saturday 24 October 2026.

How much is an Uber from Palm Beach airport to Miami?

Uber’s route page from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), now DJT, to Miami, FL lists past-month averages of $113 for UberX, $105 for Comfort, $168 for UberXXL and $287 for Premier SUV, over 71 miles and 85 minutes. Uber states that those averages are not fixed prices.

How much is Brightline from West Palm Beach to Miami?

Brightline’s booking search, read on 16 September 2026, quoted SMART SELECT at $39.00 per Guest plus $0.48 in fees on 17 of 18 trains for Monday 19 October 2026, and $15.00 on every train for Saturday 24 October. PREMIUM SELECT, which includes one standard tagged bag, cost $69.00 and $53.00.

Is Brightline or Uber cheaper from DJT to Miami?

For two adults with carry-on bags, the train was cheaper on both dates read: $94.96 on a Monday and $46.96 on a Saturday, including a $16 UberX into West Palm Beach, against Uber’s $105 to $113 averages. With a suitcase each, PREMIUM SELECT lifts the train to $154.96 and $122.96, and Uber wins.

Is there a direct train from Palm Beach airport to Miami?

No train leaves from the terminal. DJT says Tri-Rail runs between West Palm Beach and Miami from its station at 203 South Tamarind Avenue, with no fare listed, and Brightline boards at 260 Quadrille Plaza Drive, reaching MiamiCentral in 75 to 82 minutes. A sentence on Uber’s route page calling Tri-Rail direct from PBI contradicts the airport.

Can I take a suitcase on Brightline to Aventura?

Only as a paid carry-on. Brightline’s baggage policy says Aventura and Boca Raton do not accommodate checked baggage, so a bag larger than a carry-on is carried on board for a fee. Its terms set the tagging deadline at 20 minutes before departure at West Palm Beach, against 30 minutes for bags checked through to MiamiCentral.

How long does the trip from DJT to Miami take by train?

Brightline’s trains from West Palm Beach to Miami took 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 22 minutes on Monday 19 October 2026, after Uber’s 9-minute average from DJT into West Palm Beach. Boarding closes 5 minutes before departure, so the tightest connection runs 89 to 96 minutes, against Uber’s 85-minute average by car.

A 71-mile trip where the suitcase picks the winner

Brightline and Uber publish enough between them to price this trip, which is more than the airport does, and their numbers point one way. On the two dates read, the train saved two adults between $10.04 and $66.04 when they carried only what fits overhead, and cost them between $9.96 and $49.96 more once an airline suitcase each came along.

The choice between Brightline and Uber for Miami gets made at the departure airport’s bag drop, not on the DJT curb.
